Hole 15
The heart of “Baymen Corner”, the 15th at Mornington is a quirky mid-length par four that boasts a thrilling tee shot up and over a steep ridge, and an even more spectacular approach shot played toward Mornington harbour.
For many members the 15th is their favourite hole. The fairway is open and generous, but challenging to hit because of prevailing winds into the golfer standing on the tee, and the natural uncertainty many feel trying to hit their driver uphill and into an unseen fairway.
From the crest of the fairway the view here is simply magnificent. It cannot distract the golfer from the task at hand, however, as the green is small, angled steeply to the front and protected by a couple of deep bunkers.
The 15th at Mornington is a true test in every sense.
