Hole 19
When the 19th hole is in play the back nine at Mornington starts with a downhill par three that enjoys a lovely rural outlook, but is notorious for a sinister green site. One good swing here can lead to an easy birdie, but there are probably more three-putts on this green than any other on the course. The putting surface is angled steeply from back to front, and from left to right.
Mornington members, and regular golfers, know that being long on the 19th is a disaster, while leaving your ball anywhere left or above the hole can leave you with a tortuously difficult up and down. The challenge on the 19th is particularly noticeable when the pin is on the right side of the green, and protected by a single front bunker.
