Hole 6
Mornington’s latest attraction, the recently rebuilt 6th hole is a fabulous, semi-blind par four that features an undulating high road / low road fairway and a wonderfully positioned elevated green site.
From the tee your decision will be to aim up the bunkered right side, or to hit more safely down the left. There is more room down the left, but a prominent ridge leading into the green will obscure your view of the putting surface – and potentially kick your ball through the back of the green.
Like all good strategic par fours, the choice here is whether to take a risk on the drive, or leave yourself with the tougher approach. Those who play their tee shot successfully up the right side will be thinking birdie, as the angle from the higher side is ideal with the green shaped to feed your ball toward the pin.
Whatever your playing strategy, stunning views of Port Philip Bay and the Melbourne CBD as you approach the putting surface here on the 6th are sure to live long in the memory.
