Hole 7
Is there a more beautiful par three anywhere in Melbourne?
The 7th at Mornington is regarded as our signature hole, and rightly celebrated for its panoramic views of Port Philip Bay, and a thrilling downhill tee shot played to a green that seems to hover above the beach at Mount Eliza.
Recent changes to bunkering have made the long, chasing tee shot even more fun to play, and manageable for many more golfers. Unless played into a strong wind, the best plan of attack with your tee shot is to land short of the putting surface, and to feed your ball on from the right hand side.
Although it’s a lengthy par three, there are many birdies on the 7th as the green is receptive to a well struck, and well judged, long-iron.
The iconic lone pine leaning beside the tee here is the inspiration for Mornington Golf Club’s logo.
In any weather – and after any score – the 7th at Mornington is a stunning hole.
